What Bible Verses Are Used In The FREE Templates?
I chose to do a mini word/topical study about JOY. I pulled out my trusty concordance and looked up every verse that had to do with joy (in case you are wondering, there are a lot!) and combined them with some verses that have helped me through hard times in my life.
“Joy is gone from our hearts; our dancing has turned to mourning.”Lamentations 5:15
I chose this verse from Lamentations because if I’m being honest, sometimes things are so hard we don’t joy present. Especially if your circumstances are consuming, it can be difficult to live in joy- it is possible though. These words are from the prophet Jeremiah when Jerusalem, God’s City, had fallen to the Babylonians- due to their own sins.
“I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.”Jeremiah 31:13
This verse from Jeremiah felt so fitting as the next verse for my mini-study. It is the Lord declaring he will change the Israelite’s mourning into gladness when he told Jeremiah that he would bring his people back from captivity. Their comfort and JOY would come from him- nowhere else.
“He lifted me out the slimy pit, out of the mud & mire; he set my feet on a rock & gave me a firm place to stand.Psalm 40:2
This verse makes my heart swell. It stood as a verse of hope when I was in the trenches of multiple pregnancy losses. Today it represents what God has brought me out of and everything He has done for me. No matter the circumstance you’ve found your self in, I believe this verse is fitting for every hardship.
“… The joy of the Lord is your strength.”Nehemiah 8:1
Lastly, this verse stands as a reminder of where our strength and Joy comes from- our one and only Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We cannot live in true joy without Him- it’s through Him we can have the strength to keep going even on the hardest days.
